The Art of Destruction
The Art of Destruction is a Doctor Who novel by Stephen Cole, part of BBC Books’ New Series Adventures. It features the Tenth Doctor and Rose and was published on 21 September 2006. The story takes place between The Age of Steel and Army of Ghosts. It is preceded by The Nightmare of Black Island and followed by The Price of Paradise.
Plot:
The TARDIS lands in 22nd‑century Africa, where farmers are growing food near a dormant volcano to feed Earth’s hungry population. They pick up an alien signal, and something moves in the volcanic tunnels, triggering an ancient trap. The Doctor and Rose meet Solomon Nabarr and Basel, who explain they have landed by Mount Tarsus in Chad.

An abridged audio book version, read by Don Warrington (who later played the President in Rise of the Cybermen), was released in November 2006 and includes a behind‑the‑scenes discussion.
