Thakkolam is a panchayat town in Ranipet district, Tamil Nadu, India, and is part of the Chennai Metropolitan Area. It covers 8.5 square kilometers and had a population of 13,983 in 2011, with about 1,600 people per square kilometer. The postal code is 631 151.

The town is famous for the Jalantheeswarar Temple, a Shiva temple where the main deity is Jalanadheeshwaran. This temple is one of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalam temples and is linked to the Battle of Takkolam.

Thakkolam is connected by rail via the Thakkolam railway station, which links to Arakonam, Tirumalpur, Kanchipuram, and Chengalpet. The nearby Thiruvalangadu railway station connects to Chennai and Arakonam. The area also has good road connections to nearby towns.

A notable deity in the area is Lord Dhakshinamoorthy, worshipped in the Thava kolam at Jalanadheeshwarar temple.
