Elwood is a small hamlet and census-designated place in the Town of Huntington, Suffolk County, on Long Island, New York. It sits near the center of Huntington and is known as "The Heart of Huntington."

Geography and population: Elwood covers about 4.8 square miles, all land, at an elevation of 184 feet. The population was 11,426 at the 2020 census. The community is mostly White, with Black or African American, Asian, and people of two or more races making up the rest; about 8.7% are Hispanic or Latino. The age mix includes about 20% under 18 and about 16% aged 65 and over. Women slightly outnumber men.
