Setiawan Djody
Setiawan Djody Nur Hadiningrat, born on March 13, 1949 in Surakarta, Central Java, Indonesia, is a businessman and guitarist. He is the grandson of Wahidin Soedirohoesodo, a national hero. Djody studied at the Wharton School, graduating in 1974, and earned a Master of Philosophy from the University of California, Berkeley.
As a businessman, he chairs the Setdco Group, which has investments in oil, media, agriculture and telecommunications. In 1994, MegaTech, a Setdco subsidiary, bought Lamborghini from Chrysler. Forbes listed him as one of the 150 richest Indonesians in 2007. He is also active in shipping and owns several shipping companies.
As a musician, Djody is known for playing guitar. He helped form the group SWAMI with Iwan Fals and W. S. Rendra, and later started Kantata Takwa with Iwan Fals, with Djody on guitar and Iwan as the lead vocalist. Rolling Stone named him one of Asia’s top guitarists.
He is married to Etty Djody. In 2011, he received a liver transplant donated by his daughter Shri Jehan Djody, and in May 2011 he performed the Kantata Barock concert.
