Tau is a village in Strand municipality in Rogaland county, western Norway. It sits on the shore of Horgefjorden, a branch of Boknafjorden. The village covers 2.14 square kilometers and has about 3,212 residents (2019), with a population density of 1,501 per square kilometer. Strand Church is located in Tau. It lies along the Norwegian National Road 13, southwest of Fiskå and Holta and northwest of Jørpeland. The Ryfylke Tunnel connects Tau to Stavanger, about 20 kilometers away across the fjord. Tau Mølle AS, in a white mill that once brewed the Norwegian beer Tou, produces puffed oats.
