Tank Top City is the second studio album by Sugarsmack, released February 10, 1998, on Sire Records. The alt-rock record runs 60 minutes and 20 seconds and features 16 tracks, all written by Sugarsmack. It was produced by Marc Becker and followed their 1995 release Spanish Riffs. Although it didn’t achieve strong commercial success, critics noted its energy and distinctive style. Nashville Scene described it as kinetic, jagged rock between England’s The Fall and Atlanta’s The Jody Grind. The Memphis Flyer praised the band’s bold punk swagger. Stereo Review called it a 16-song luge ride through wild terrain and suggested that listeners should embrace the band’s altered neural pathways, especially on the track Reagan.
