Atlanta Bread Company is a private cafe-bakery chain that began in 1993 in Sandy Springs, Georgia. It’s now based in Smyrna, Georgia, and as of 2025 operates 9 locations in two states. The menu includes bakery items, soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta, pizza, and a variety of drinks for dine-in or takeout.

The business grew through franchising in the mid-1990s under brothers Jerry (CEO) and Basil Couvaras (COO). It expanded quickly for a time, but later faced legal and financial problems, including a dispute over ownership with the original founders and unrelated banking charges against the Couvaras. The store count has declined since 2011, with several franchise issues and loan difficulties affecting growth. Despite ups and downs, Atlanta Bread Company remains a smaller, regional chain focused on bakery goods and cafe meals.
