Svetlana Pesotskaya is a Moscow-born Russian TV reporter. She started as an actress and model before moving into journalism. After the fall of communism, Russian TV faced budget and audience problems, so the M1 Network tried a bold tactic in November 1999 to attract viewers: Pesotskaya would strip on air while presenting the news. The stunt boosted ratings, and the show was renamed The Naked Truth, becoming one of Russia’s most-watched news programs. She appeared on camera daily, covering herself with her hands to stay modest. In an MTV documentary about unusual TV moments, she was misidentified as Deborah Norvilovich, a mix-up with Deborah Norville.
