1944 South Sydney season: The club’s 37th season in the NSWRFL Premiership. South Sydney finished 4th and reached the playoffs but lost the semifinal to Balmain 15–6. The team record was 7 wins, 1 draw, 6 losses, scoring 193 points and conceding 287. Coached by Alfred Blair and captained by Jack Walsh, they played at the Sydney Sports Ground. Top scorers were James Armstrong with 10 tries and Frank Bonner with 20 goals (40 points).
