Subhrangsu Kanta Acharyya (born 27 November 1940) is an Indian geologist and former director general of the Geological Survey of India. He is known for his geologic studies of the Himalayas and the Indo-Burmese region, which aided later hydrocarbon and mineral explorations in the area. He was born in Mymensingh, now in Bangladesh, and later served as a professor at Jadavpur University.

His work spans geodynamics, Gondwana geology, Himalayan geology, and tectonics. Acharyya has written Coal and Lignite Resources of India: An Overview and co-edited Late Palaeozoic and Early Mesozoic Circum-Pacific Events and their Global Correlation. Under his supervision, the Geological Map of India and the Seismotectonic Atlas of India and its Environs were prepared. He is a fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India and the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology. In 1984, he received the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for his contributions to Earth sciences.
