Street Life is a 1979 jazz-funk single by The Crusaders from the album of the same name, with Randy Crawford on lead vocals. Released by MCA Records, it was a hit, reaching No. 36 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. A disco-style remix and the longer album version were issued. The track has appeared in films such as Sharky’s Machine and Jackie Brown, and the original was used in Better Call Saul and in Grand Theft Auto V on the WorldWide FM in-game radio station. The music was written by Joe Sample, with lyrics by Will Jennings, inspired by chaotic street scenes on Hollywood Boulevard and Mammoth Mountain’s beginner slope. Crawford’s collaboration with the Crusaders helped launch her solo career, while the band’s popularity declined in the 1980s. The single was released in multiple formats, including 7-inch and 12-inch editions.
