Palayakkaran is a Telugu-speaking community in Tamil Nadu, India. Their ancestors were soldiers who served the poligars, rulers in areas that are now part of Andhra Pradesh. Many Palayakkarans still speak Telugu at home and Tamil in daily life. Today, they are mainly found in Chengalpattu and North Arcot districts of Tamil Nadu, though they originally came from what is now Andhra Pradesh. They are also known as Palayakkara Naidu, Palayakkara Naicker, Muthiriya Naidu, and Muthiriya Naicker.
