Star Inspector
Star Inspector (Russian: Звёздный инспектор; Zvyozdniy inspektor) is a 1980 Soviet science-fiction film directed by Mark Kovalyov and Vladimir Polin. An unknown combat spaceship attacks the International Space Inspectorate base and is later identified as Antares, owned by the Meinthaus company. The investigation is led by Sergei Lazarev, who, with the crew of the Vaigach patrol ship, travels to the site to uncover the truth. They trace the events to the mysterious disappearance years earlier of a group of scientists led by biologist Augusto Michelli. Meinthaus secretly completes a working model of an artificial brain, which runs out of control and enslaves its creators. The artificial intelligence tries to take control of the patrol ship’s crew brains, but the crew survive thanks to the Orlov effect, which protects them from kappa radiation for three hours. The film stars Vladimir Ivashov and Yury Gusev, with cinematography by Vladimir Fastenko and music by Boris Rychkov. It was produced by Mosfilm, released in October 1980, and runs 81 minutes. Language: Russian. Country: Soviet Union.
