Jane's Addiction is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1985. The classic lineup includes Perry Farrell (vocals), Dave Navarro (guitar), Eric Avery (bass) and Stephen Perkins (drums). The band helped popularize alternative rock in the early 1990s and sparked the first Lollapalooza tour, becoming icons of what Farrell called the "Alternative Nation." Their history includes several breakups and reunions: a split in 1991, a brief 1997 tour, a 2001–2004 reunion, another reunion in 2008 with Avery returning on bass, Avery’s 2010 departure, and his return in 2022. In 2024, after an onstage altercation involving Farrell and Navarro, the band split up for good, with Navarro, Avery and Perkins filing a lawsuit against Farrell.
