Sree Sankara College

Sree Sankara College is a higher education institution in Kalady, Kerala. It was founded in 1954 by Swami Agamananda of the Sri Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram to promote the teachings of Adi Shankaracharya and to honor Shankaracharya’s birthplace as a cultural hub. The college has 21 departments offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral degrees, along with diploma programs. It became a First Grade College in 1956 and is affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi University.

Since 1960, the college has been under the patronage of the Sankaracharya Swamigal of Dakshinamnaya; today it is led by Sri Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamigal of the Sringeri Mutt, with Sri K. Anand as managing director. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has graded the college A with a CGPA of 2.80/4.0. The departments of Economics, English, Chemistry, Sanskrit, and Microbiology are recognized as research centers under Mahatma Gandhi University. The principal is Prof. (Dr.) Anilkumar M.
