Trey Townsend
Trey Townsend, born August 30, 2002, is an American basketball player who currently plays for Köping Basket in Sweden. He is a 6-foot-6 forward. He grew up in Oxford, Michigan, and attended Oxford High School, scoring 1,010 career points (second in school history).
Townsend played college basketball at Oakland University from 2020 to 2024. As a freshman, he averaged about 8 points and 6 rebounds per game. In his senior year, he was named Horizon League Player of the Year and earned first-team All-Horizon League honors. On March 12, 2024, he scored a career-high 38 points in the Horizon League championship, helping Oakland reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2011. In the tournament, he had 17 points and 12 rebounds in a first-round upset of Kentucky, and 30 points and 12 rebounds in the second-round OT loss to NC State.
Townsend won the Lou Henson Award in 2024 as the top mid-major player, averaging 17.3 points and 8.1 rebounds that season. He entered the transfer portal on April 3, 2024, and announced he would transfer to the Arizona Wildcats later that month. After college, he went undrafted in 2025 and joined Köping Basket in Sweden. His parents, Skip and Nicole Townsend, also played basketball at Oakland.
