SplendidCRM
SplendidCRM is an open‑source CRM built in C# for the ASP.NET framework. It comes in two editions: Open Source and Professional. The Professional edition includes stored procedures and source code for a Microsoft Outlook plug‑in.
The company SplendidCRM, Inc. was founded in November 2005 by Paul Rony in Raleigh, North Carolina. It began as an experiment to port a LAMP CRM to .NET and quickly gained attention in the .NET community. SplendidCRM uses SugarCRM Open Source as a blueprint, but its code is original and it complies with the Sugar Public License 1.1.3.
SplendidCRM appeared on Codeplex on June 28, 2006 and has been downloaded thousands of times (in addition to downloads from its own site). It is not a SugarCRM competitor but aims at Microsoft‑friendly small businesses and can be deployed as a software‑as‑a‑service. It uses a developer‑based license for the Professional edition (pay for the number of developers), while internal use is per user.
SugarCRM later licensed its open‑source product under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPLv3) in 2007. SplendidCRM originally used the SPL license, with database views and stored procedures developed independently of SugarCRM. SugarCRM’s switch to AGPLv3 is viewed positively by developers, and if SplendidCRM also moves to AGPLv3, ASP.NET developers would be able to use it more freely as a framework for their own solutions.
