The Pavilion at Pan Am
The Pavilion at Pan Am, originally known as Pan American Arena, was a two-rink ice facility in downtown Indianapolis built for the 1987 Pan American Games. As part of Pan American Plaza, it opened in 1987 with an NHL-size rink and a larger Olympic-size rink, serving as a major training site for skaters and hockey players and attracting a steady flow of events.
Over the years the arena’s management changed. It was operated by the Indiana/World Skating Academy, and in 2013 Pan Am Sports Incorporated took over day-to-day operations and the venue was renamed Pan Am Pavilion. It then served as the training facility for the Indiana Ice junior team (USHL) until 2014. In 2015 Indy Pavilion LLC took over and rebranded the facility as the Pavilion at Pan Am, turning it into a live events venue that hosted more than 600 events and became a staple of Indianapolis’ music scene and downtown economy. The venue was owned and operated by Indy Pavilion, LLC (owners include Cebronica Luft, Jason Jenkins and Jason Stellema).
In March 2024 the Pavilion at Pan Am was demolished to make way for a Hilton Signia Hotel.
