Sovetsk is a small town in the Shchyokinsky District of Tula Oblast, Russia. It sits on the Upa River, which is part of the Oka River basin, about 43 kilometers south of Tula, the oblast’s administrative center. The town has about 7,889 residents (2021).

Sovetsk began in 1950 as a work settlement named Sovetsky and was granted town status in 1954. Administratively, it is a Town Under District Jurisdiction within Shchyokinsky District. Municipally, it forms the Sovetsk Urban Settlement in Shchyokinsky Municipal District. The town is roughly 200 meters above sea level.

Population history shows a decline from 10,077 (1989) to 7,536 (2010), with a slight increase to 7,889 by 2021. The time zone is Moscow Time (UTC+3). Postal code: 301205.
