Southeast Minahasa Regency
Southeast Minahasa Regency (Kabupaten Minahasa Tenggara) is a regency in North Sulawesi, Indonesia. It covers 730.63 square kilometers. As of mid-2023, its population is 118,946 (61,478 men and 57,468 women). The capital and administrative center is the town of Ratahan.
History and administration
The regency was created on 2 January 2007, separating from the southeastern part of South Minahasa Regency, and was officially inaugurated on 23 May 2007. Southeast Minahasa is divided into 12 districts. In total, there are 135 rural villages (desa) and 9 urban communities (kelurahan), all concentrated in Ratahan District. Ratahan serves as the regency’s administrative center.
Climate and time
Ratahan has a tropical rainforest climate, with heavy rainfall most months and lighter rainfall in August and September. The regency observes Indonesia Western Time, UTC+8 (WITA).
