Sounds Eclectic: The Covers Project is a 2007 compilation album featuring cover songs performed by various artists on KCRW. The tracks were recorded for Sounds Eclectic, the weekly public radio program hosted by Nic Harcourt, from the archives of the daily Morning Becomes Eclectic program. The Flaming Lips’ version of Radiohead’s “Knives Out” was recorded on their tour bus on the way to the studio. The album was released on March 13, 2007 and sold exclusively at select Starbucks locations in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, San Diego, Austin, Boston, and Washington, D.C. A portion of the sales helped digitize KCRW’s music library. The recordings span June 2001 to April 2006.
