We’re Here Because We’re Here is the eighth studio album by the British rock band Anathema. It was released on 31 May 2010 and runs about 58 minutes. The album blends progressive rock, art rock, and post-rock. It was produced by Vincent Cavanagh and Daniel Cavanagh and mixed by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree. The working title was Horizons. Ville Valo from HIM contributed backing vocals on the track Angels Walk Among Us. The album’s title comes from a World War I song sung in the trenches to the tune of Auld Lang Syne. This is the last Anathema album to feature keyboardist Les Smith and the first to include Lee Douglas as an official member. Critics responded very positively, and Classic Rock magazine named it Prog Album of the Year, calling it a flawless, life-affirming comeback. Most songs were written by Daniel Cavanagh.
