Sons of Butcher is a Canadian adult animated comedy about the rock band of the same name. Created by Dave Dunham, Trevor Ziebarth, and Jay Ziebarth, the show uses Flash animation to tell crude, funny, rock‑tinged stories. It aired on Teletoon’s The Detour block from August 5, 2005, to January 12, 2007, with two seasons and 26 episodes.

The series is set in Steeltown, a city like Hamilton, Ontario. It follows Sol Butcher, his younger brother Ricky, and their friend Doug Borski as they run a run‑down butcher shop called Sons of Butcher Quality Meats and also perform as a loud rock band.

Main characters:
- Sol Butcher: the older, gruff yet kind boss who struggles with alcoholism.
- Ricky Butcher: a big, impulsive rocker who dreams of fame.
- Doug Borski: an 18‑year‑old janitor with a wild past and a knack for odd jobs.

Their late father, Arpo Butcher, died in a meat grinder accident. The show also features recurring characters like Jean‑Guy and the Good Cop/Bad Cop duo.

The music and humor are a big part of the show. Some songs from the band appeared in the 2007 film Pigs, and Teletoon aired a live special, Sons of Butcher: Tourin’ the Canada, in 2007.

After season 2, Teletoon did not renew the series. The creators announced the guitars were unplugged, though the band later inspired a side project called Moonlight Desires, which turns 1980s pop songs into heavy rock. Moonlight Desires released Frankie Goes to Hamilton (2014) and Just The Hits: 1981-1985 (2017); a live album from Toronto’s Mod Club came out in 2019.
