Soichiro Tahara
Soichiro Tahara, born April 15, 1934, in Shiga, Japan, is a Japanese political journalist best known for hosting TV Asahi's Sunday Project. A turning point in his life came in the summer of 1945, when a teacher said Japan had fought an aggressive war. This made him doubt what he had learned and inspired him to become a journalist. He studied at Waseda University and began his career at Iwanami Productions, a documentary film company. He later moved to TV Tokyo, where he made important documentaries and began freelance work in 1976. In 1971, he co-directed the fiction film Lost Lovers (Arakajime Ushinawareta Koibitotachi yo) for the Art Theatre Guild with Kunio Shimizu; it starred Renji Ishibashi and Kaori Momoi. Since 1987, he has hosted Asa Made Nama Televi! (Live TV Until Morning!), a late-night-to-morning talk show with experts, and he continues to host it today.
