Geography
- Bundaberg-Bargara Road runs through the southern tip from west to east, and Bundaberg-Port Road forms part of the eastern and northern boundary.

History
- The name Rubyanna comes from a sugarcane plantation owned by surveyor John Charlton Thompson. A common story links the name to his wife, but that is disputed because his wife’s name was Hannah Elizabeth (née Breeze).
- Rubyanna Provisional School opened around 1899 and closed in 1905; it was located on the Rubyanna sugar plantation.
