Slander the Woman
Slander the Woman is a 1923 American silent drama film directed by Allen Holubar and starring Dorothy Phillips. The screenplay was by Violet Clark, based on The White Frontier by Jeffrey Deprend. It was released on April 16, 1923, by Associated First National Pictures and runs about 70 minutes.
Plot: Yvonne Desmarest is a stylish young woman from Montreal who attracts the unwanted attention of Monsieur Redoux. After Redoux is shot by his jealous wife, a stern judge names Yvonne “the other woman,” and she is shunned by society. To escape the stigma, Yvonne and her maid flee to a northern cabin that was her father’s hunting camp, where they meet Emile, a protective trapper. Yvonne endures adventures with other fugitives. The judge eventually realizes his mistake, goes north, is wounded, and, after being ignored and rejected, is finally loved by Yvonne—the woman who once vowed to hate him.
