Skin line
Skin lines are natural patterns on the skin. The main types are Langer's lines, Kraissl's lines, and Blaschko's lines.
- Langer's lines are patterns that run with the direction of collagen in the skin. Surgeons often cut along these lines to help scars heal better. They’re used in some cosmetic and breast surgeries and can aid forensic analysis.
- Kraissl's lines are the lines of greatest skin tension. Incisions placed along these lines tend to leave smaller, less noticeable scars.
- Blaschko's lines are invisible lines that reflect how skin cells develop before birth. In some conditions, these lines can become visible as patches with different colors or patterns.
