Simon Önerud is a Swedish professional ice hockey player born on June 16, 1988, in Jönköping. He plays left wing, shoots left, and is 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing 203 pounds. He has played in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) for HV71, and previously for Timrå IK and Modo Hockey.

In the 2016–17 season, Önerud was one of HV71’s top players, scoring 29 points in 37 regular-season games and 13 points in 16 playoff games, helping HV71 win the Le Mat Trophy. He also won the Stefan Liv Memorial Trophy as the playoff MVP. After that season, he left HV71 to pursue a new challenge in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL).

On May 26, 2017, Önerud signed a one-year deal with HC Sochi. He played the 2017–18 season in the KHL with Sochi and HC Sibir Novosibirsk, then returned to HV71 on a three-year contract on May 18, 2018.
