Charles Ronald Norgle Sr.
Charles Ronald Norgle Sr. is an inactive senior judge on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He was born in Chicago on March 6, 1937, and served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He earned a BBA from Northwestern University in 1964 and a JD from John Marshall Law School in 1969.
Norgle worked as an assistant state's attorney in DuPage County from 1969 to 1971, then as a deputy public defender from 1971 to 1973. He became an associate judge for DuPage County in 1973, then a circuit judge from 1977 to 1978, served again as an associate judge from 1978 to 1981, and as a circuit judge from 1981 to 1984.
On September 10, 1984, President Ronald Reagan nominated him to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois created by 98 Stat. 333. He was confirmed by the Senate on October 3, 1984, and received his commission on October 4, 1984. He assumed inactive senior status on October 4, 2022.
