Silver Medallion (horse)
Silver Medallion, an American Thoroughbred, was foaled on May 1, 2008. He was sired by Badge of Silver, out of Another Vegetarian, with Damsire Stalwart. Bred by Brereton C. Jones, he raced for Black Rock Stables LLC, trained by Todd A. Pletcher, and ridden by Javier Castellano. He ran 13 times, winning 5 races and earning $426,123. His major victories include the Tropical Turf Handicap in 2011 and the Fort Lauderdale Stakes in 2012.
He began his racing career on August 4, 2010 at Saratoga, winning his first race, and later won the Eddie Logan Stakes on December 31, 2010. In 2011 he won the El Camino Real Derby on February 12 and finished fourth in the Santa Anita Derby in April. He ended 2011 with a win in the Tropical Turf Handicap in December. In January 2012 he won the Fort Lauderdale Stakes, and his final race was the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap on February 11, 2012, where he finished seventh. He retired in May 2012 after an injury suffered in training.
