Siege of Takatō (1545)
Siege of Takatō (1545) was a clash in the Sengoku period. Takeda Shingen pressed through the Ima Valley in Shinano Province and attacked Takatō Castle. The castle’s lord, Takatō Yoritsugu, was defeated. He had hoped for help from allies Ogasawara Nagatoki and Tozawa Yorichika, but they did not come to his aid. The defending force numbered about 5,100, while the Takeda army was around 5,000. The Takeda side, led by Takeda Shingen (with commanders Itagaki Nobukata, Ogasawara Nagatoki, and Tozawa Yorichika), won the siege. This was the first time Takatō Castle had been besieged.
