Beamish is a village in County Durham, England, located northeast of Stanley and inside Hell Hole Wood. It is best known for Beamish Museum, an open‑air museum that recreates a Northern town from the early 20th century. The village’s main pub near the museum entrance is the Shepherd and Shepherdess. To the south lies the small settlement of No Place, also called Co-operative Villas. The northwest area of Beamish is part of the Beamish Burn conservation area. To the north, Pockerley Manor is a pele tower from around the 15th century, now attached to a farmhouse and known as Pockerley Manor. The tower sits on a stone basement with living space above, and the first floor is reached by a stair built into the wall; the roof remains largely original.
