Scouts et Guides de France
Scouts et Guides de France (SGdF) is the largest Scouting and Guiding group in France. It was formed on 1 September 2004 when two Catholic organizations merged: Guides de France (founded in 1923) and Scouts de France (founded in 1920).
Through Scoutisme Français, SGdF is a member of both the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The federation reports about 88,600 members in 863 local groups, including around 61,200 youth and 27,400 volunteers.
Headquarters are in Paris, and the National Centre is at Chateau de Jambville, about 50 km southwest of Paris. SGdF supports Scouting in Ukraine and Belarus and works to strengthen Scouting in French Polynesia.
The emblem blends symbols from its two predecessors: the red Jerusalem Cross with the fleur-de-lis, and the Guides de France’ trefoil. The orange circular background represents the rope circle, symbolizing the strength of the Movement.
Motto: Toujours Prêt (Always Prepared). The organization runs Scouting and Guiding activities for young people across different age groups.
