Shane Walker (rugby league, born 1971)
Shane Walker (born 4 January 1971 in Rockdale, New South Wales) is a former Australian rugby league prop who played in the 1990s and early 2000s. He began his first‑grade career with St. George Dragons (1990–1992), then moved to the Eastern Suburbs Roosters (1993–1994), Balmain Tigers (1995–1999), Wests Tigers (2000–2001), and Melbourne Storm (2002).
He made his St. George debut in Round 21, 1990 against South Sydney. In 1995 Balmain briefly became the Sydney Tigers for the Super League war and played at Parramatta Stadium; in 1997 the club returned to the Balmain name and played at Leichhardt Oval. Walker was part of Balmain’s final first‑grade game in 1999, a 42–14 loss to Canberra. After Balmain merged with Western Suburbs to form the Wests Tigers, he stayed with the new club and played in their inaugural game against Brisbane. He finished his career with Melbourne Storm in 2002 and then retired.
Across his career, Walker played 178 first‑grade games, scoring 5 tries and kicking 4 goals for 28 points. His son, Jayden Walker, is an Italian rugby league representative.
