Shahjahan Chowdhury (film director)

Shahjahan Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi film director and scriptwriter. He started his career in journalism, working for the newspaper Khobor before moving into cinema. He made his directing debut with Pinjar in 1975 and later co-directed Akhri Station with Pakistani filmmaker Suroor Barabankvi. By 2011, he had directed five films: Pinjar (1975), Shatru (1985), Uttarer Khep (2004), Ek Khanda Jami (2004), and Madhumati (2011). After Bangladesh’s independence in 1971, he worked with Weekly Bichitra and later published the monthly Nipun. Since 2009, he has been the editor and publisher of the Weekly Nipun.
