Serge Ambomo
Serge Ambomo, born 2 July 1986 in Ngoksa, Cameroon, is a professional boxer. He competed in the light welterweight event at the 2012 Summer Olympics but lost in the round of 32 to Yakup Şener. After the defeat, he disappeared from the Olympic Village with six other Cameroonian athletes. A week later he reappeared at a local boxing gym with four other boxers and applied for asylum in the United Kingdom. His first asylum bid failed, but he was later allowed to stay.
Ambomo turned professional in November 2013, winning his first pro fight on points against Matt Seawright on 30 November 2013. He has fought regularly since, totaling 51 professional bouts. He lives in Sheffield, England.
