Scobey is a small city and the county seat of Daniels County, Montana. It sits where Montana Highways 13 and 5 meet, and covers about three-quarters of a square mile of land. The population is around 1,000 people, with 999 residents counted in the 2020 census.

The city uses a mayor-council government; as of 2023 the mayor is Morgan Lekvold. Scobey is known for hunting and outdoor activities. Nearby is the Mansfield A. Daniels House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The town was named by rancher Mansfield Daniels for his friend Major Charles Richardson Anderson Scobey, a cattleman and Montana Territory official.

Historically, during the homestead boom of the 1910s, Scobey was the world’s largest primary shipping point of grain. It has a semi-arid climate, with long, cold winters and hot, wetter summers.

Scobey Public Schools serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The Daniels County Library is in Scobey, and the local newspaper is the Daniels County Leader. Two radio stations are licensed to Scobey: KCGM (country music) and KNPS (religious). The town is served by Highways 13 and 5, and Scobey Airport is located about one mile northwest of town.
