Schomberg Municipality
Schomberg Municipality (Gmina Szombierki) was a local area in the Beuthen district, within the Silesian Province of Germany. Its seat was the town of Schomberg, which today is a district of Bytom in Poland.
In the 1921 Upper Silesian plebiscite, 3,328 residents of Schomberg voted. Although the majority favored joining Poland, the area remained under German rule for some time after the plebiscite.
In 1930, the Schomberg municipality became the owner of Fazaniec Park. The municipality ceased to exist in 1945 when Silesia was taken over by Poland. A new Polish administration formed Gmina Schomberg, and the town’s name was changed to Chruszczów.
The municipality had 7,464 residents in 1939.
