Sauroidichnites

Sauroidichnites is a fossil footprint (ichnotaxon) associated with saurian reptiles. In its classification, it is linked to higher ichnotaxa Ichnolites (class) and Dipodichnites (order), with the ichnogenus Sauroidichnites named by Hitchcock in 1837.

Edward Hitchcock originally used Sauroidichnites as a broad group name rather than a specific ichnogenus, so the name does not have priority over more precise ichnogenus names that might have been identified as Sauroidichnites.

A trackway called Sauroidichnites abnormis records prints from a theropod with an abnormally positioned toe. This unusual toe could reflect an injury or a distinctive way the foot pressed into or lifted from the ground.
