Malgorzata S. Zywno (Gosha) is a Canadian engineer and professor of engineering at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU). A 3M Teaching Fellow, she was born in Poland and arrived in Canada as a government-sponsored refugee after refusing to join the Polish Communist Party or work for the secret police. She earned degrees from the Technical University of Lodz, the University of Toronto, and Glasgow Caledonian University, and holds a Ph.D. She received her P.Eng license in 1984. At TMU, she serves on the Ryerson Women in Engineering Committee, which encourages young women to study engineering. Zywno has received several awards for her teaching and for promoting engineering to women, including the Sharon Keillor Award for Women in Engineering Education, the Medal for Distinction in Engineering Education from the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers, and the Order of Honour from Professional Engineers Ontario.
