Satoru Inoue
Satoru Inoue (井上悟), born July 21, 1971, in Kishiwada, Japan, is a retired Japanese sprinter who specialized in the 100 metres and 200 metres. He studied at Nihon University and competed for Japan in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, as well as four World Championships.
Inoue’s best individual result was reaching the 100 metres semifinals at the 1993 World Championships in Stuttgart, becoming the first Japanese man to reach that round at the World Championships. He former held Japanese records in both the 100 m and 200 m and won the Japanese title in the 100 m twice.
Personal bests:
- 100 m: 10.20 seconds (1991)
- 200 m: 20.72 seconds (1993)
He also earned medals in relay events, including the 4x100 m relay at the Asian Games (1994) and the Universiade (1993). Inoue is 1.68 meters tall and about 65 kg in weight, and he began as a gymnast before turning to athletics.
