Malcolm Dixon (actor)
Malcolm Dixon (1934–2020) was an English actor known for his distinctive height of 4 ft 1 in and for roles that used his stature, including Time Bandits (1981) where he played Strutter. Born in Crook, County Durham, he was the youngest of seven brothers and the only child with dwarfism. His parents died when he was young, and he outlived all his brothers.
Dixon worked with Jim Henson's Creature Shop on various films and TV projects and appeared in music videos for David Bowie, Duran Duran, and Spandau Ballet. He acted in over 30 film and TV productions and had a notable theatre presence, including a leading role as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit at the Fortune Theatre in London from 1986 to 1989. From 2000 to 2020, he was a regular in pantomimes such as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
He was married to Anita Dixon and had two children. Malcolm Dixon died in Blackpool on 9 April 2020, aged 85.
