Santa Cruz, Aruba
Santa Cruz is a town and region in central Aruba, near Arikok National Park. It is connected by Route 7 (east–west) and Route 4 (north–south). The area is about 41 square kilometers and had around 12,900 residents in 2010; the population was about 15,200 in 2020. Santa Cruz includes neighborhoods such as Boton, Bringamosa, Cas Ariba, Jamanota, Jan Flemming, Macuarima, San Fuego, Shete, Siribana, Urataka, Warawara, and Catashi.
Macuarima is a town within Santa Cruz, named after an Amerindian chief who died defending Aruba during the 1499 Spanish invasion. The name Macuarima is also the title of a play by Ernesto Rosenstand. Santa Cruz is part of the central area of Aruba, close to Arikok National Park.
