Sam Bagnall
Sam Bagnall (6 February 1892 – 1946) was an English footballer from Sheffield who played as an outside right. He began with Clowne Rising Star, then moved to Chesterfield Town before joining his hometown club Sheffield United in 1913. He was known for his pace, but he made only seven league appearances and scored one goal for United before World War I interrupted his career. He served in France during the war, was wounded in the left shoulder and arm, and was discharged in 1916. After the war he worked at Welbeck Colliery and played for their football team. In 1921 he took part in a charity sprint at Hyde Park to raise funds for a new sports pavilion.
