Gustavo Milano
Gustavo Milano, born February 11, 1961, in Rosario, Argentina, is a former rugby union player, coach, and sports agent who also runs a dairy products business. He played as a lock and earned international caps for both Argentina and Italy. His nickname is Tati, and he began his career with Jockey Club Rosario.
Milano played for Jockey Club Rosario from 1979 to 1989, then moved to Italy to play for Rugby San Donà (1989-1991) and Milan (1991-1997). He helped Milan win three league titles and later served as player-coach for the team.
Internationally, Milano debuted for Argentina in 1982 against France in Toulouse. He earned 30 caps for Argentina, scoring 24 points, and played in the 1987 Rugby World Cup (injury limited him to one match against Fiji). He was part of Argentina’s South American Championship-winning teams in 1985 and 1987. In 1989 he moved to Italy, and the Argentine union did not select him again. His sole Italy cap came in 1990 in Rovigo against the Soviet Union.
After retiring as a player in 1996, Milano continued coaching and later became a sports agent for Argentine players in Europe. In 2002 he became a training coach for the Argentine Rugby Union, a position he held until 2019. He is a strong advocate for women’s rugby in Argentina and is known for his work across the country. He lives in Santa Fe.
