Saint Peter’s has won MAAC championships and made NCAA and NIT appearances. The 2022 men’s basketball team became famous for a historic run as a 15-seed to the Elite Eight.
Key campus facilities include the Run Baby Run Arena (the renovated Yanitelli Center), Panepinto Hall, and a pedestrian bridge that connects parts of the campus. The school has expanded housing with several dorms over the years.
Historically, the college closed briefly in 1918 during World War I, reopening in 1930. It integrated in 1936 and began admitting women in 1966. In 1965 it awarded an honorary Doctor of Divinity to Martin Luther King Jr. The institution became a university in 2012.
Notable alumni include U.S. Senator Robert Menendez and U.S. Representative Albio Sires, among others in government, law, business, and academia.
The Frank J. Guarini School of Business was named after a donor who gave $10 million in 2019.
