Altin Kaftira
Altin Kaftira (born 1972 in Albania) is a former dancer with the Dutch National Ballet in Amsterdam. He joined the company in 1995 and was principal dancer from 2000 to 2007, working with choreographers such as Hans van Manen, Rudi van Dantzig, Jerome Robbins, Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon and Ted Brandsen, and dancing in many George Balanchine ballets. He left ballet in 2007 to become a filmmaker. One of his early directing projects was the 75th anniversary gala for Hans van Manen. In 2002, Albanian president Rexhep Meidani awarded him the title Art's Ambassador of the Nation. Dutch critic Herman Stevens called him an audience favorite with exceptional charisma.
