Sacramento River (Mexico)

The Sacramento River is a short river in the Mexican state of Chihuahua, just north of the city of Chihuahua. It is the main tributary of the Chuvíscar River, which flows into the Rio Conchos and then into the Río Bravo (Rio Grande).

During the Mexican–American War, the Battle of the Sacramento was fought on February 28, 1847, about 15 miles north of Chihuahua. A Mexican army was defeated by advancing U.S. forces, allowing the United States to occupy Chihuahua on March 2.
