Marcelinus Nlemigbo
Marcelinus Nlemigbo is a Nigerian lawyer, politician, and social entrepreneur from Imo State. He has led political groups in Imo, including roles in both the PDP and the APC. He was called to the Nigerian bar in 2017 and started in politics at a young age.
He previously served as chairman of the Imo PDP before joining the APC. On September 1, 2020, INEC recognized him as the leader of the APC Imo State Caretaker Committee, set up to run the party until new congresses could be held.
Nlemigbo has supported moving the presidency to the Southeast to promote national unity. He is considered one of Nigeria’s longest-serving state party chairmen. In 2016, a police inspector attached to him was killed in Mbaitolu, Imo State, an incident that sparked controversy.
During the 2019 period, he faced suspension from the APC over alleged anti-party activities, with factional chairman Daniel Nwafor saying he had not attended meetings; Nwafor asked the national chairman Adams Oshiomhole to effect the suspension. Despite this, INEC again affirmed him as the Imo APC caretaker leader on September 1, 2020. In the 2023 elections, he urged INEC, political parties, and voters to work together for free, credible, and fair polls.
