S. B. P. Pattabhirama Rao
Sri Balusu Prabhakara Pattabhirama Rao (1911–1988) was an Indian Telugu industrialist, zamindar of Kapileswarapuram, and a Congress leader. Born on 30 December 1911 in Kapileswarapuram, East Godavari District, he studied at P.R. College, Kakinada, and Law College, Madras. He served as Education Minister in Composite Madras State (1952–1953), in Andhra State (1954–1955), and in Andhra Pradesh (1956–1962) in various cabinets. Pattabhirama Rao was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly (1952–1967) and Legislative Council (1968–1970). He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Rajahmundry for the 5th, 6th, and 7th terms (1971–1984) and served as a Union Minister of State under Indira Gandhi. He died on 21 September 1988 in Madras at the age of 76. He received honorary Doctor of Letters from Andhra University and honorary Doctor of Laws from Sri Venkateswara University.
